Busy Busy

It has been a while since we have posted. Lots have been going on and keeping us very busy. My hubby and I are in the process of buying a 1950's farmhouse that I cannot wait to start painting and fixing up! Hopefully we will close this week and I can share pictures with everyone. For now, I have been doing as much projects at home as I can to get ready for the move. Megan and I made a trip with our moms to New Orleans last week to some salvage stores to see what we can find. We had a great time and came home with some goodies. For now, here are a few project that I have been working on...

This is a table that I bought at a garage sale a few years ago. I stripped the top and stained it dark. I painted and distressed the bottom. I love it and cannot wait to find a perfect place for it in out new house.

This is an old chandelier that needs cleaning and rewiring

I am also working on repainting these old lockers to put in my stepsons room. I painted them fire engine red and I cannot wait to see them in his room

And last are these chairs that I picked up in Canton, TX. I am in the process of painting these and then distressing them. I also found an awesome stone colored fabric with birds sketched on it that I will recover them in.

With all of these project going on, I still found time to make this wedding cake this past weekend.

Happy Birthday

This past weekend was so beautiful. It was the perfect weekend to celebrate a birthday. Landon, my stepson, has been into Thomas the Train for about 4 years now. This year I didn't want a Thomas birthday party again...so we decided to do puppy dogs! It was so fun decorating for the party and he had a blast! Here are a few pictures from the event.

My mom was painting face

Landon helped me decorate this dog bowl birthday cake

Landon thought no one would recognize him with his painted face, he was a dog for the day

I hope that everyone has a great Easter week, and remembers the importance of this week.

Before and Afters

So I have not posted in awhile. I have been working on an some new projects, and I wanted to share them with everyone.  Here are a few before and afters.

Lauren and I went to an antique shop that was going out of business awhile back and I picked up this little end table for 10 bucks, and was not sure what i was going to do with it: It was very wobbly, coming unglued, and the paint was pealing.  So I took it apart, sanded it down, and and painted it.  I then sanded it again and added some stain.
Another trip Lauren and I made was to a place called the Green project, we bought old spindles and cut them in half, then I had my hubby drill holes in the top to use them as candle stick holders.  I also had this little stool, and my sister in law was throwing this black candle holder.  I knew I could find something to do with them.
I painted the spindles and then antiqued them, I did the same with the stool and then painted a typography from Graphics Fairy.  With the black candle holder I decided that I would use it as a stand for an old hat of my grandmothers.
The little white one is form Canton it was and old spindle as well but all I did to it was add some stain.
And this is the stool that i am now using in my kitchen.
This is the black candle stick holder, I spray painted it gold.  I am not done though, I am going to get a styrofoam ball and cover it fabric so the hat can have something to sit on.  Sorry for the glare.
I am working on some really cute Easter baskets for my nieces and nephews here is a sneek peek, they are not painted yet.  When I finish them I will post and picture and explain what I did.

The Big Reveal

Remember on my first post when I showed a sneak peak at something that I was working on. Well, I completed the project. Here are some before and after pictures.
I found this old sidebar in Canton, TX on our trip that Megan was talking about. I love it and eventually my TV will be on top. I stripped the top and stained the wood a dark walnut. The rest of the piece was painted white and I came back with an antiquing glaze to rough it up. I didn't want to sand away too much because I didn't want the yellow to show through.

This is the before picture

And these are the after pictures. Sorry I will try and get a better picture later.

Happy Monday

Is it Monday already? This weekend went by way too fast. The weather was great and I could have stayed outside all day. I did work on a few peices on Saturday, but I had a cake due Sunday afternoon for a First Communion. I am so happy with the way that it came out. I was even more satisfied with it once I dropped it off. They loved it! The little boy receiving his first communion sat at the dining room table and just admired the cake. Hope they enjoyed it.
